Historic Home Gets a Makeover

Project Description

This beautiful farmhouse started out with all the charm an older home has to offer: coffered ceilings, vintage fixtures, original trim… But the owner hoped to update the kitchen and flooring, which had seen numerous changes since the house was originally built.
First, a partial wall was removed between the kitchen and dining area, opening the rooms and creating room for more kitchen cabinetry while still making both spaces feel bigger.  The kitchen features shaker style gray cabinets with white quartz counters and new appliances.  Brass fixtures reference the age of the house while still feeling modern when combined with the sleek floating shelves.  The original trim has been replicated around windows and at the ceiling to integrate the cabinets into the original structure of the house.  Flooring in the kitchen and throughout the main floor is a natural wood that looks original and reflects the lighter color palette in the new space.
